The perfect place to start your city walking tour with Trev Hill Photography.
Street art is a much loved feature of my Dunedin city walking tour. Here the late Austrlain artist Be Free has painted kids having fun with paint. See it for yourself on a tour.
Not far up from the Dunedin Octagon are these beautiful terraced buildings.
An iconic business of Dunedin, and the mark of the southern man. Speights Brewrey is definitely a place to stroll past on a Dunedin city walking tour, steeped in history, with interesting tales to be told.
Queen Victoria with the cenetarf in the background. What I love here is the workers taking a break at lunchtime to enjoy each others company.
The stunning Dunedin Town Hall
I took this image from the seventh floor of a building overlooking the station at night. This was when Dunedin had tungsten lighting, hence the warm glow, these days the lighting has been changed.
Otago Street Artist Deow, pays homage to the Otago colours of blue and gold in this work located in No Name Alley, part of the walking tour.
Any sightseeing tour in Dunedin will probably include a circuit of the Octagon. The Octagon is the heart of the city and has a range of attrctions, including The Robbie Burns Statue. In this image Robbie has been dressed up to help promote an event on in the city.
Probably the most photographed building in Dunedin, maybe all of New Zealand.
If you are in Dunedin’s Octagon, a steep walk up Stuart Street will take you past this impressive looking building, the King Edward Technical College. On the walking tour it’s a bit too steep and high to reach the front view.
Located now next to the brand new Otago Regional Council building project. This historic Horse yard, is the oldest in New Zealand, and has been preserved with the new council building under construction in this image.
The Dunedin Chinese Gadrden is a love letter to the people of China who made Dunedin their home following the Gold Rush period.
The Maori artwork here is called Ko te Tūhono, and is a significant artwork by Ayesha Green. It represents a replica doorway to a meeting house at Ōtākou Marae located on the Otago Peninsula.
Our tour takes in the brand new Otago Regional Council building still in development. Learn how the buildings artwork connects it to the land and it’s significance for our Maori people.
A bit of a hike to get here from the Octagon, so not part of the tour, but we do get a peak at it on the way.
Once a church and then a playhouse, the Fortune Theatre lays dormant, as the curtain was called in 2018, all that is left now are the resident ghosts. We walk past this architectural treat on the Dunedin City Walking Tour.
This stunning image created by Tyler Kennedy Stent was commissioned before Ed played 3 sell out Dunedin concerts. ed even took a selfie with it and added it to his Instagram feed. If you are a fan, I’m sure we can stop here for a picture.
Near Anzac day The Dunedin City Council lights up the Queens Garden cenotaph, i’m guessing to symbolise the colour of the red poppy. I captured this image during a spectacular sunrise.
One of my hobbies is writing blogs, often about camera gear and also walking tracks and places around Otago, Southland, the Catlins, Fiordland and Dunedin. Below I have included some entries you might find of interest. Also, I have included a few fashion type photoshoot blogs as the location of the photography can highlight places we might visit on the walking tour.
